NINE new jobs have been created following a £500,000 investment in a brand new state-of-the-art veterinary practice in Lymm.

A team of veterinary professionals with more than 6 decades of combined industry experience will run Burford Lane Vets at the former Pets Animal Hotel kennels, including Dr Sean Cleary, who is well known throughout the Northwest for his vast breadth of experience and knowledge in small animal care.

Dr Cleary is joined by Dr Pieter De Villiers, and two head veterinary nurses, Ashlee Crook and Gemma Scott, who have all been working in Lymm for many years.

Dr Cleary said: “I’m originally from New Zealand and started my UK veterinary career in Warrington and have worked throughout Cheshire for the last 20 years. I’m delighted to be opening my own practice in Lymm, alongside Pieter, who is a highly respected local vet. Our team lives locally and believes strongly in providing a caring and accessible service for our local community of pet lovers. Locally owned and locally managed, we are a traditional veterinary practice that embraces technology and puts pets at the heart of what we do.”

Burford Lane Vets benefits from significant investment in the latest technology and veterinary equipment and has three consulting rooms, a state-of-the art lab, high-tech orthopedic equipment, online booking, and soothing music to minimise stress in the separate cat and dog wards.

Dr Villiers added: “As a new start-up, we are able to register pets right away and provide high-quality veterinary care in a timely manner. According to the Pet Food Manufacturers Association, a total of 3.2 million households have acquired a pet since the start of the pandemic and this has led to increased pressure on existing practices, meaning many are unable to see people quickly or take on new clients.”

Head veterinary nurse, Ashlee Crook, said: “At Burford Lane Vets we will know every pet by name, not number! Our aim is to be a pet’s practice for life, to build strong bonds with our clients and patients, and to help them to live long and happy lives together. We’re committed to designing the best service possible around our clients and their pets – because that’s how we think veterinary care works best.”
Head veterinary nurse, Gemma Scott, said: “Both Sean and Pieter have loyal clients from across Lymm, Altrincham, Warrington and beyond and we are happy to be back in the local community providing a first-class service.”
