POLICE have moved to reassure residents that there was no stabbing incident in Lymm village last night following an altercation near Lymm Cross.

A large police presence was seen in the village last night and the police helicopter was called out during the earlier hours following reports of an incident involving a group of males from outside the village.

It is understood one of the males suffered a cut to his hand due to a broken bottle.
Reports later circulated on social media that there had been a stabbing.
Local police patrolling in the village had earlier reported large groups of youths in the village centre, but mainly well behaved.
