Home worker’s sponsored beard shave raises £800 for RNLI

AFTER 18 months of working from home United Utilities’ employee Tim McCann had become quite attached to a furry friend.

Tim from Penketh, Warrington, decided not to shave whilst he was unable to go into the office in order to raise money for a good cause – the RNLI.

A keen sailor in his spare time, Tim has raised a fantastic £600 for the RNLI which United Utilities has agreed to add an additional £200 to taking his total to £800.
He managed to grow his beard to an impressive 20cm long before his close shave.
Speaking about the challenge, Tim said: “Throughout the various lockdowns I’ve made choices to avoid doing some things I enjoy, like being out on the water. For a leisure sailor, this choice was something I had the option to make, unlike the RNLI volunteer crews who answered the call, whenever it comes.
“I’d grown quite attached to my lockdown beard, or it had to me, but I was happy to lose it to raise funds for a great organisation.”
