Community grocery shop to sell affordable food to people in need

PLANS for a community grocery shop serving affordable food at Warrington have been put to borough council planning chiefs.

The scheme has been submitted by Christian charity group The Message Trust in partnership with the Bethel Free Church in Cotswold Road, Orford.

A 20×20 portacabin on land adjacent to the church would house the shop and there would also be a 10×8 storage unit.
The aim is to supply affordable food to people in need. One full-time and one part-time employee would work on site.
It is anticipated that 40-50 customers a day would visit the shop.
In addition to groceries, the church would also offer support services such as money management, cookery classes and job clubs.
There are 15 parking spaces adjoining the church.
