Diamond couple celebrate with four generations on family holiday to ancestral home

WARRINGTON couple David and Patricia Skentelbery celebrated their diamond wedding as four generations enjoyed a family holiday to Looe in Cornwall – the ancestral home of the family name.

They were joined by son Gary, and his wife Janet, granddaughters Amy and Hannah and their partners Ryan and Conor and great-grandaughter Olivia and spent a week on the seafront, reliving many memories from 60 years of marriage.
Having met at a party on a blind date, a whirlwind engagement and marriage took place as they settled in their first home together in Penketh, where son Gary was born following the tough winter of 1963.
They moved to Croft before eventually settling in Lymm, which has been home for the past four decades.
After working as a journalist on various newspapers, David launched his own freelance business, before helping launch Warrington-Worldwide and Lymm Life and associated magazines with son Gary in 1999.
Previously he had worked above the Art Centre on Horsemarket Street, where Patricia ran a successful art and gifts shop, before joining the family business in the accounts department where they still work alongside Gary and his wife Janet and granddaughter Hannah.
During their trip down memory lane they visited the former family B&B where they spent their honeymoon in 1961, Seator, which was owned by David’s late auntie as well as a visit to Looe tennis club where they played a few games of tennis while on honeymoon, although this time they settled for a cream tea!
