Highest number of new COVID-19 cases for six weeks

ALTHOUGH COVID-19 infection rates have fallen again in Warrington a total of 142 new cases have been reported in the latest data from Public Health England, the highest number for six weeks, since July 20.

The 142 (111) new cases, the highest number since schools and colleges broke up, take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 27,045 (26,903).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again, to 625 (629) – 298.5 (300.4) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is below the national average of 357.3 (355) per 100,000, which have risen again.
Meanwhile, across the UK 207 more COVID019-related deaths have been reported in the latest 24-hour period.
It is the highest daily figure since 9 March when 231 deaths were reported.
There have also been 35,693 new COVID daily cases recorded.
The figures come after a bank holiday weekend when there is usually a lag in reporting deaths and cases.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 496 (495) 236.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 197.9.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 577 (577).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Wednesday, September 1 2021 was 207 (50), taking the total number of deaths to 132,742 (132,535).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 35,693 (32,181 ), taking the total number to 6,825,074 (6,789,581).
Across the country, there are 7,598 (7,015 ) patients currently in hospital and 1,014 (988) on ventilation.
