Major industrial and logistics development put to planners

OUTLINE planning consent is being sought for a major industrial, storage and distribution development on a disused corner of the Lingley Mere Business Park at Warrington.
The proposals have been submitted to the borough council by site owners United Utilities and involve a 4.47 site in the North East corner of the business park at Great Sankey.
Nearby residents – the nearest of which is said to be 65 metres from the site – have been notified of the proposals by letter.

The business park currently consists of mainly two-and-three offices, a café, car park and landscaping, including planting and water features. The area subject of the new application is mainly grass and shrubs.
Access is from Omega Boulevard and Skyline Drive.
The area already has outline consent for offices but United Utilities say the change is necessary because of a shift in demand from offices to logistics units.
Landscaping is proposed to safeguard the amenities of the nearest residents.
But because the existing business park operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the operating hours of the new development would be the same.
The appearance of the buildings to be erected is not part of the application and would be the subject of a further, reserved matters, application.
