COVID-19 infection rates rise again as 102 new cases confirmed

ANOTHER 102 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Warrington in the latest data from Public Health England, with infection rates rising slightly again, although below the national average.

The 102 (98) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 26,572 (26,470).



There have been no further deaths reported at the hospital, while inpatient numbers have risen from 22-23 with five patients being discharged.
Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen slightly again, to 729 (716) – 348.1 (341.9) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which are slightly below the national average of 349.6 (344.5) per 100,000, which continues to rise.

Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 38,046 new COVID-19 cases and 100 more coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period. Another 55,140 people had their first coronavirus jab taking the total who have had one dose to 47,915,768. And a further 144,936 second doses were administered, meaning 42,379,353 people are now fully inoculated.
England’s R number has shifted slightly to between 1 and 1.1, according to the latest official data. Last week, the R value – or reproduction number – was between 0.9 and 1.2.

The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 577 (577).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Friday, August 27 2021 was 100 (140), taking the total number of deaths to 132,243 (132,143).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 38,046 (38,281), taking the total number to 6,666,399 (6,628,709).
Across the country, there are 6,942 (6,906) patients currently in hospital and 982 (974) on ventilation.
