COVID-19 infection rates rise again in Warrington as 80 new cases confirmed

COVID-19 infection rates have risen again in Warrington with 80 new cases in the latest data from Public Health England, while hospital inpatient numbers have also risen slightly.

The 80 (111) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 25,578 (25,498).



While hospital admissions have increased slightly from 28-29, another five patients were discharged and there were no further COVID-19 related deaths, although ICU numbers have increased from 5-7.
Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen to 670 (649) – 320 (309.9) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period and are above the national average of 294.7 (294.6) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 170 more COVID-related deaths and 26,852 new coronavirus cases in the latest 24-hour period. It is highest number of fatalities reported in one day since 12 March, when 175 deaths were announced.
Since the pandemic started in 2020, a total of 131,149 people have died in the UK within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test. There have also been 6,322,241 confirmed infections.

Current inpatients as of Tuesday, August 17 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 29 (28) including 7 (5) in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 493 (492) 235.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 195.5.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 573 (573).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Tuesday, August 17 2021 was 170 (26), taking the total number of deaths to 131,149 (130,979).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 26,852 (28,438), taking the total number to 6,322,241 (6,295,613).
Across the country, there are 6,303 (5,894) patients currently in hospital and 918 (882) on ventilation.
