One more COVID-19 death and 176 new cases in Warrington as infection rates continue to rise

ANOTHER COVID-19 patient has sadly died at Warrington Hospital, while another 175 cases have been reported in the latest data from Public Health England, with infection rates continuing to rise in the town.

While five patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, inpatient numbers have risen slightly from 16-17 with four in intensive care.



The 175 (147) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 22,683 (22,508).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 1,278 (1,131) – 608.5(538.5) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national average of 440.2 (399.6) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 46,558 new COVID-19 cases and 96 more COVID-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period. It is the highest number of fatalities since 24 March when there were 98 deaths.
According to the latest data, 745 COVID patients were admitted to hospital on 14 July, and 4,500 were admitted in the last seven days, a weekly rise of 38.4%.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 484 (484) 230.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 192.9.
