COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise as 28 new cases confirmed

ANOTHER 28 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Warrington, as infection rates continue to rise above the national average, although hospital admissions continue to remain low.

The 28 (42) new COVID-19 cases in the latest data from Public Health England, take the total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 18,241 (18,213).



Data shows most of the recent new infections in Warrington are younger people aged between 15-35.
Meanwhile, Cases in Warrington for the last seven days continue to rise, with 128 (96) – 60.9 (50.7) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– which is now well above the national rate of 51.7 (45.8) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
COVID-19 inpatient numbers at Warrington & Halton Hospitals remain low, at just two.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals has reintroduced its daily reporting of figures Monday-Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

There have been no hospital deaths since April.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 487 (486) 231.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.4
