Appeal launched after teenage girl forced into car during alleged kidnapping at Lymm

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 16-year-old girl was forced into the back of a silver car by a young man during an alleged kidnapping incident at Lymm.

The incident occurred outside the Co-op convenience store on Cherry Lane at 7.45am on Tuesday 11 May.



The girl has been located, she is safe and well and didn’t sustain any injuries.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and has since been released on conditional bail.
Detective Constable Sophie Davies, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “I want to reassure the public that this was a targeted incident and since it was reported to police we have been following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances around what exactly has taken place.
“As part of that we believe a number of people were present at the time it took place and may have seen what occurred and I am encouraging them to come forward and get in touch with us.
“In particular a man who is believed to have been walking a dog at the time and challenged the man while it was occurring. If this is you please do contact us.”
