Appleton tops voter turn out at Local Election polls

APPLETON saw the highest turn out in the recent Warrington Borough Council Local Elections – the only area of the town to see more than 50 pc of the electorate vote -compared to the lowest of just over 20 pc in Poplars and Hulme.

The average across the twenty-two Warrington Borough Council wards in the town was 36.29 pc, with the second-highest turn out of 49.67 pc in Lymm South, followed by 49.40 in Grappenhall.



The highest turn out in the North of the borough was in Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft, with 45.43 pc.
The areas with the highest turns outs in the North & the South is where the Conservatives had the most success, returning three candidates in Appleton, at the expense of the Lib Dems, and three candidates in Culcheth, Glazebury & Croft, at the expense of Labour.
Other areas with higher than average turnouts included Penketh and Cuerdley, 42.74 pc, where the independents saw three candidates elected, two at the expense of Labour.
