A significant milestone has recently been passed by Orford Pharmacy in its COVID-19 vaccination programme at Warrington Islamic Association’s premises in Bewsey, Warrington.
The number of bookings accepted by the pharmacy has now surpassed 10,000 people up to the end of April.
The pharmacy is currently operating out of the Warrington Islamic Association, which lies at the heart of Warrington. This allows the life-saving COVID-19 jab to be delivered to as many local
residents as possible, who can access any number of transport links into the town.
A spokesperson for Orford Pharmacy spoke of the motivation to “provide our local community with a local and convenient place to receive either jab.”
“These community pharmacy centres are vital in bringing accessibility of these crucial vaccines to smaller communities who may not have access to a large-scale site based in more densely
populated areas.
“A recent break-in at the centre by burglars likely looking to steal vaccines has not crushed any spirits. The centre, run by volunteers from the pharmacy, reopened the next day and has
continued to provide its crucial service to local patients. Solidarity and community spirit is
helping to propel the community through these uncertain times.
“Since the beginning of February, vaccinations have accelerated as they have become available to more people. This increase in availability comes as part of the government’s plan to have
every UK adult offered their first dose by 31 July.”
