WARRINGTON and Halton Teaching Hospitals’ maternity service has secured a £600 donation from homebuilder Taylor Wimpey North West – to help more women to have a home birth experience.

The donation made via the Warrington and Halton Hospitals’ Charity is helping to fund a home birthing pool, birthing pool liners and essential oils to improve the experience of women choosing a home birth option.
In addition to supporting births at home, Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals (WHH) has recently opened a midwifery-led unit, The Nest, to support more women to have a home-from-home birth experience on site at Warrington Hospital.
Debby Gould, professional midwifery advisor at WHH, said: “It is incredibly important for us to support women in their birthing choices, wherever possible and this generous donation from Taylor Wimpey will make a real difference to the women in our care.”
Company spokesman Stuart Craig added: “We’re thrilled to be able to support Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals and specifically the maternity team which works so hard all year round to ensure that expectant mothers feel supported and looked after during an incredibly exciting but also daunting time.
“We really hope that these ‘above and beyond’ extras make a real difference to the women and their families in the local community should they wish to welcome their little one from the comfort of their own home.”
