Hospital COVID-19 inpatient numbers reach record high but new case numbers continue to drop

COVID-19 inpatient numbers have reached a new record high at Warrington Hospital with a further 18 patients being admitted in the past 24 hours taking the total number to 243, including 28 in intensive care.

One more patient has also sadly died since yesterday, although new cases are continuing a downward trend for a sixth consecutive day, while 12 patients were discharged in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a total of 117 (171) new COVID-19 cases were reported by Public Health England today, Monday, taking the total reported in Warrington, since the start of the pandemic, to 14,201 (13,913).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days, previous days/updates in brackets, are 1,268 (1,345) – 603.8 (640.4) per 100,000 population – showing a downward trend for a sixth consecutive day and the seventh time since the start of lockdown.

*The highest number COVID-19 positive inpatients during the first wave was on 12th April with 124 patients of which 18 were in ICU.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 362 (355) 172.4 per 100,000 population.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England is 383 (383).
Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Tuesday, January 19 was 1,610 (599), taking the total number of deaths to 91,470 (89,860).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 33,355 (37,535), taking the total number to 3,466,849 (3,433,494).
