AS local lockdown restrictions come into force next Tuesday, there has been another sharp increase in daily COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington and across the country.

The latest figures from Public Health England states the daily number of new COVID-19 cases for Warrington is 42 and with 4,322 new cases across the country the coronavirus transmission rate could now be as high as 1.4 according to official figures.
The national figures are up 1,000 compared to Thursday and the highest daily figure since May.
According to the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies the nationwide R number is between 1.1 and 1.4.
It shows “widespread growth of the epidemic across the country.”

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington now totals 1,861 (886.1). The total number of confirmed deaths is 155.
Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 27, taking the total number of deaths to 41,732.
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 4,322, taking the total number to 385,936.
Across the country, there are 1,020 patients currently in hospital and 127 patients in ventilator beds.
