Residents urged to self-isolate and get tested even with mildest symptoms following increase in COVID-19 cases

RESIDENTS are being urged to self-isolate and get themselves tested if they are showing even the mildest COVID-19 symptoms, following more than 40 new confirmed cases in Warrington during the past fortnight.

More than 30 of the new cases have been confirmed in the past week, although there have been no significant increases in numbers being treated at Warrington Hospital where three COVID-19 patients are currently being treated.
A council spokesperson said: “Case numbers of coronavirus over the previous 14-day period have increased for Warrington, and all those who are affected have been contacted”.
“Given this trend, we need to remain extra cautious when we go out and about to avoid the risk of catching the virus. This means giving renewed attention to the basics, like washing our hands regularly, keeping our distance from other people and wearing a cloth face-covering where necessary.
“Above all, whilst we do not want to stop people from going out, it’s essential that if you have any coronavirus symptoms – however mild – to self-isolate immediately and arrange to book a test.
“This will help prevent the spread of the virus and will protect others, particularly those who are elderly or have underlying health conditions, from becoming extremely unwell.”
A total of 1,444 cases have now been confirmed in the town, a rate of 687.6 per 100,000 people.
