TRAVELLERS who set up an illegal encampment on private land on on the Appleton and Grappenhall Heys border have now been served with an eviction notice.

Warrington South MP Andy Carter, who visited the encampment yesterday evening said an eviction notice had now been served to four Irish families requiring them to be gone by 12 noon Thursday.
The encampment which arrived earlier this week consists of four caravans and associated vehicles on a layby at the junction of Witherwin Avenue and Lumb Brook Road.
The encampment involves four Irish families, travellers from Galway and Sligo.
Its not the first time the area of land has been used an illegal camp site.

Borough Cllr Sharon Harris commented: “This was very quickly acted on by the WBC who started the process off before 12.22 yesterday. Councillors received an email from the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team at 14.27 this afternoon advising them that a Section 77 notice had been served and they would be required to leave by noon tomorrow. Very quick action and credit where credit is due!”
