Teenage girl arrested and in custody on suspicion of serious assault

A 17-year-old girl has been arrested today and in custody on suspicion of a serious assault on a young woman on Bennett’s Recreation ground last Wednesday evening.

At 10.11pm on Wednesday, June 24, officers were called to reports of an altercation involving a group women at Bennett’s Recreation Ground in Padgate.
Officers attended the scene and found that the victim, a 20 year-old woman, had sustained an injury to her mouth.
Officers conducted a search of the area and there was no trace of any suspects. A suspect was identified and has now been arrested and enquiries are progressing.

The investigation is still ongoing and the victim is being supported.

Meanwhile Rixton and Woolston Police will continue to patrol this area to offer reassurance to the public and will take positive action against anyone committing ASB or involved in criminal activity.
Parents are also reminded to monitor your children’s whereabouts. They are your responsibility and should not be roaming the streets causing havoc.
This does not apply to all youths however, there are many that feel it appropriate to do as they please. This will not be tolerated and positive action will be taken.
