Warrington Hospital COVID-19 inpatient numbers continue to fall

WHILE one more patient has sadly at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19, with one new case also confirmed, the downward trend of inpatient numbers is continuing.

The hospital is currently caring for 48 Covid-19 positive inpatients (last week 57) 5 of whom are in ICU (last week 6).
The average daily attendance at the hospital’s Emergency Dept. over the past seven days was 189 (last week average was 185) and at the Urgent Care Centre was 41 (last week average was 39).
The number of patients who have now sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 is 118 (114), while at least 94 people have died in local care homes, taking the town’s death toll to at least 212.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases of Warrington residents reported at the hospital now stands at 764 – a rate of 364.6 per 100,000 population.
As of today Thursday (May 28), Warrington Hospital had tested 5,110 (last week 4,422) inpatients/community of which 1,050 tested positive (1,008 last week). (Not all those tested are from Warrington).
They have discharged 292 patients (273).

Across the UK the Daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 377 taking the total number of deaths to 37,837.
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 2,887 taking the total number to 269,127.
Meanwhile the Government has announced a slight easing of lockdown restrictions from Monday, which allow up to six people to meet in private gardens.
In announcing the new rules, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the government doesn’t want people to stay overnight, although people can have socially-distanced barbecues if they “exercise common sense”.
People should cotninue t observe social distancing rules and also make sure they wash their hands so as not to transmit the virus.
Health adviser Sir Patrick Vallance says the current infection rate means there is “not a lot of room” to do things differently.
Antibody surveys estimate that under 7% of people have antibodies to the virus, meaning the “vast majority” are still vulnerable.
There are an estimated 54,000 new infections per week, he adds – which is still a “significant burden” of new infections.
