Five more patients sadly die at Warrington Hospital but number of in patients down

FIVE more patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 but the number of in patients is down on last week.

COVID statistics at the hospital as of noon today (Friday): So far the hospital tested 2,376 patients in hospital/in the community.
Of those 749 tested positive (although not all of these are from Warrington) and the hospital is currently caring for 91 in patients, down on the 100 being treated last week and the 113 the week before.
The hospital has discharged 186 patients but sadly 86 patients have died (cumulative).
The majority of those who test positive do not require hospital treatment.
With at least 37 people dying in local care homes after testing positive for COVID-19 the town’s death toll is now at least 123.
Meanwhile the number of new confirmed cases in Warrington was nine, taking the total to 603.
The daily number of new lab-confirmed UK cases was 6,201 taking the total number of lab-confirmed UK cases to 177,454
The daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths was 739 taking the total number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths to 27,510.

Meanwhile the Government is saying face masks have a “weak but positive effect” in slowing down COVID-19.
Ministers are still considering what guidance to issue to the public during the lockdown as they prepare to outline plans for a phased lifting next week.
