Six fire crews called out after smoke alarms activated at high rise building

SIX fire crews attended after two smoke alrams were activated at a high rise building in Latchford, Warrington.

The crews – one from Warrington, one from Birchwood, one from Stockton Heath, one from Lymm and two from Penketh and an aerial ladder platform from Lymm, attended at the building on Kingsway South at 4.20pm yesterday (Tuesday).

On arrival crews found alarms sounding on two floors. Firefighters inspected the floors and the rooms within them using thermal imaging cameras.

Crews later inspected all the lower floors as a precaution. They found no signs of fire.

The alarms are believed to have been activated by smoking materials in an communal area.

Firefighters were in attendance for around 45 minutes.
