Cyber crime police seek help from public

POLICE have issued CCTV images of a woman they believe could assist an investigation after a virus was installed on a shop computer at Warrington.
The woman entered a shop in Warrington yesterday asking the shopkeeper to print a baby scan which was stored on a USB pen drive.
Eventually, the shopkeeper agreed but it is suspected the use of the pen drive caused the installation of a virus onto the machine which allowed the digital transfer of money.
Detective Constable Dave Ashcroft of the North West Regional Cyber Crime Unit said: “We would like to trace the woman pictured as we believe she may have information which could prove vital to this investigation.
“I would also warn any other businesses who are approached in similar circumstances to be vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity to police.”
Anyone who recognises the woman or has information which could assist is asked to contact the Cyber Crime Unit on 0151 777 7635.
