M6 closed near Lymm following collision between lorry and car

THE M6 near Lymm was closed this morning following a collision between a lorry and a car on the northbound carriageway shortly after 9.30am.

The incident brought traffic to a standstill northbound following the collision in the outside lane near to junction 20 at Lymm.

Traffic was released at around 9,45 although the outside lane remained closed during investigations and congestion remained heavy in the area.

Earlier in the day there were hour long delays on the M6 following an accident involving four cars on the southbound carriageway between juncton 21 A at Croft, from the M62, and 21 at Woolston.

All lanes were reopened by 7.20am.
