Latchford pay the price for a poor start

LATCHFORD fell 18-0 behind within 15 minutes away against a rampaging Hindley side and ultimately paid the price for such a disappointing start by going down 36-10.
The home side’s opening salvo left Albion with an uphill challenge to gain anything from the game but on the half-hour mark they opened their account when the ball was moved quickly along the line and winger Jake Ashton (pictured) managed to find the space to dive in at the corner.
At half time the visitors still had a lot of work to do as they trailed 18 – 4.
An early second half try and conversion to Latchford full back Alex Davies gave some hope of a remarkable come-back. He showed great pace to join the line and race through the host’s defence to cross near the posts.
But despite some good field position, they could not find a way through a resilient Hindley side again and on 65 minutes suffered a sucker punch when the hosts scored a breakaway score to open a 14 point lead entering the closing stages.
With the result now a foregone conclusion,, Hindley put Albion to the sword with two late converted tries to make the closing score-line a harsh representation of a challenging contest.
