New power walking session proves to be huge success

A NEW weekly Power Walking session introduced by Lymm Runners is proving to be a huge success among locals.
It’s been described by walk leader Kate Pike as “having all the benefits of being a Lymm Runner – lovely company, fitness and fun – without actually running!”
The power walking session, which takes place every Thursday evening, is designed to raise the heart rate – so not a country stroll – and is aimed at those who want a cardio-based workout without the impact.
It has already attracted some new, total beginners to the sport, as well as Lymm Runner members who are recovering from injury and are looking to regain their fitness.
The 3-4 mile sessions are taken by run leaders who are experienced in working with the annual beginners group, which takes place in January and February each year, while expert coach and club founder Chris Lees is on hand to encourage good technique.
Then of course there’s the bonus of getting out in the fresh air on a summer’s evening with the prospect of some excellent, friendly company.
Anyone interested is welcome to go along and give it a try. They will need to be wearing running shoes and suitable active wear. The walk departs at 7pm from outside Lymm Leisure Centre. Alternatively, for more information, email [email protected]
