British Transport Police officers are investigating an assault at Warrington Bank Quay station, where a man spat in the face of a member of rail staff.
They are seeking to identify the man captured on CCTV.
The assault happened at approximately 3.20pm on March 26.
A guard on board a Transport for Wales service was challenging a man following a ticket dispute.
The man left the train at Bank Quay and spat in the face of the guard as he did so.
Officers believe the man shown in the CCTV image may have information which could help them in their investigation.
Anyone who knows the man is asked to contact British Transport Police by sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 121 of 26/03/2019.
