SHOPWORKERS in the Warrington area are being encouraged to take part in a survey into instances of violence against shop staff.
The study is being carried out by the Home Office who want to fully understand the true scale and nature of the problem.
There have been a number of incidents in Warrington recently with offenders assaulting shop staff when being detained after being caught stealing.
A recent incident was in the Cockhedge Centre (centre) when a man was detained after stealing from a shop.
A police spokesperson said they were encouraging shop workers to take part in the survey to ensure the Home Office was made aware of how widespread the problem is.
The survey is available on the Home Office https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/violence-and-abuse-toward-shop-staff-call-for-evidence
