WARRINGTON Borough Council’s director for growth has scooped a prestigious regional award.
Steve Park has been named the Public Sector Director of the Year by the Institute of Directors (IoD).
The “Director of the Year” awards celebrate leadership talent, success, achievement and business excellence, across the public and private sector.
In his role as director of growth at the council, Mr Park is responsible for the oversight of Warrington and Co, as well as leading on a number of key council projects aimed at boosting Warrington’s growth and supporting the town’s future generations – including the Time Square regeneration scheme in the town centre.
The IoD judging panel, made up of respected industry leaders, praised Mr Park’s leadership at Warrington and Co. in driving forward £800 million of investment and helping create over 7,000 jobs.  They also recognised Steve’s work in overseeing the purchase of Birchwood Park on behalf of the council, with the investment providing a huge opportunity for economic development, alongside a vital revenue return that is being ploughed back into front line council services.
Professor Steven Broomhead, the council’s chief executive, said: “This is an excellent achievement, and a reflection of the hard work Steve is doing to make Warrington a great place to live and work.
“It’s very good that a private sector organisation recognises the leadership of Steve in driving forward our local economy.”
