Men arrested for fighting near shopping centre

TWO men were arrested after being caught fighting in Warrington town centre.

One, aged 35, suffered a wound to his shin – and a 39-year-old local man was found to be in possession of a knife

The pair were fighting near an entrance to the Golden Square shopping centre shortly before 4pm.

The incident took place at 3.50pm on Tuesday 19 March officers were called to reports of an altercation involving two men near to the Regent Street entrance of Golden Square Shopping Centre.

Both were arrested for affray and one for possessing a bladed article.

Detective Sergeant Ian McNabb said: “I’d like to reassure residents that this was an isolated incident and that two men have been arrested as part of our enquiries into the circumstances.”
