Man, 82, taken to hospital after being attacked

AN 82-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was attacked by two men at Warrington.
The pensioner reversed his car out of School Brow onto General Street and then got out of the vehicle to close a gate behind him at about 8.50am yesterday (Tuesday).
It was then he was attacked by the two men, suffering face injuries which required hospital treatment. He was then allowed home.
The men who assaulted him fled on foot in the direction of Eldon Street and Church Street following the altercation.
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened, or has any other information that may help the investigation, to get in touch.
They also want to hear from anyone who believes they have CCTV or dashcam footage that could aid the ongoing investigation.
Police Constable Hannah Clement said: “An elderly man was left with facial injuries that required hospital treatment as a result of the incident.
“What happened has also left him shaken up.
“Following the incident two men from Warrington, aged 50 and 46, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. They have both been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
“We are determined to establish the exact circumstances of what took we are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to come forward.
“The same goes for anyone with any other information or CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation.”
