Railway stations collect “best kept” awards

TWO Warrington railway stations picked up awards at the annual Cheshire Best Kept Stations awards ceremony, held at Northwich.
Bank Quay Station won the TravelWatch NorthWest Award for a large station and Padgate Station collected the Halton and Warrington Award.
Mark Barker, Cheshire Best Kept Stations chairman, said there ceremony was a celebration and a thank you to all the volunteers and community groups who did so much to brighten up stations in Cheshire.
“It’s not just about the winners – whether or not you win an award – this is a big thank you and a celebration for all of you and for those
who support and encourage you in the rail industry, local leaders and local authorities.
“You deserve it – 2018 may have been a difficult year for the rail industry, but we are putting that behind us and celebrating something to be truly proud
of at many of our Cheshire stations during the year.
“And we have seen some excellent work from volunteers and staff at stations right across Cheshire from the Irish Sea to the Pennines.
We hope you will all be encouraged to carry on.”
