A Warrington man who threatened a shopkeeper with a knife during a robbery to steal four cans of lager has been jailed for 38 months.

Jacob Casey, 23, of Bridge Street, Warrington, pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court to robbery and possession of a bladed article.

The incident took place on Tuesday, January 30 at 4.50pm when Casey entered the Aroma Mini-Mart, on Crown Street, and brandished a knife towards a staff member.

The worker fled the store and tried to block Casey’s exit from the store from the outside. Inside the store Casey stole the cans before forcing his way past the shopworker. He dropped two cans whilst exiting the store.

Casey was located in the early hours of the next morning after a member of the public reported to police that she had heard a man bragging about having “done a robbery”.
