VIKINGS, Knights, Dragons and Fairies will take over Warrington town centre this weekend as the annual medieval market returns.

Visitors to Warrington Market are in for a treat, with over 50 specialist traders selling all kinds of unusual gifts, food and drink.

Highlights for the free event include Hemlock the dragon, a huge 16ft ride on attraction, a Viking long ship, medieval costume characters, including Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow from popular TV show ‘The Game of Thrones’, along with historical reenactments, street theatre, dance and medieval demonstrations.

Cllr Terry O’Neil, leader of the Council said; “There has been a market in Warrington since 1255 and this event is a great way of celebrating our long and rich market heritage, whist also being a fun day out for all the family.”

Visitors are encouraged to dress in fairytale or medieval costume to take advantage of a range of special one day only offers inside the new indoor market.

There will be two live music areas with medieval rockers, Serpentyne heading up the main stage at market gate and acoustic folk acts Leafblade and Vales Elia performing in the medieval village outside Warrington Market, where you also find face painting, craft activities and family entertainment.

The event runs from 10am – 4.30pm on Saturday 7 October.
