A total of 19 Warrington residents have secured employment after gaining access to four laptops donated to a local club by regeneration specialist Keepmoat.

Keepmoat worked in partnership with housing association, Affinity Sutton on a landscaping and improvement programme at Padgate, in Warrington.

As part of its investment in local communities, Affinity Sutton approached Keepmoat to support a local budget-boosting club run by Fearnhead Community Centre that aims to support people to find work and also offers guidance on reducing household payments.

Keepmoat donated four laptops throughout the duration of the project, which were instrumental in securing work for members in Woolston, Longbarn and Cinnamon Brow. More than 20 residents benefitted from using the computers to update their CVs and glean interview tips; while 14 residents made significant annual savings by changing utility suppliers.

A total fo 19 found employment.

Frank Mondino, area director for Keepmoat in the North West, said: “It’s fantastic for Affinity Sutton to provide us with an update on how the laptops have been valuable. This shows that a simple gesture can prove life changing and it’s something we will continue to offer on other projects across the North West.

“As part of our work on Stephenson Road, we also gave residents water butts and energy monitors, which were installed free of charge; so the fact that more members of the community were able to reduce their monthly outgoings is great.”

Sue Emery at Fearnhead Community Centre said: “We have had many local people attend the job club at Fearnhead Community Centre. When I ask why they like to come to the centre, they comment on the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of people to help and give advice on a number of issues including benefits and housing problems.”

One person said: “When I was referred to the job club I was very apprehensive, thinking it would be like school. It wasn’t. I was made to feel at home and had a laugh as well as doing my CV and looking on the laptop for a job.”
