Bus stop that bus drivers can’t see!

BUS drivers are leaving passengers standing at the road side in Woolston – because they don’t realise they are waiting at a bus stop.
The bus stop sign and shelter in Manchester Road, near the junction with Holes Lane, were removed after being damaged in a recent road crash and now bus drivers don’t realise they are approaching a bus stop and just drive straight on.
Now Rixton and Woolston councillors Paul Bretherton and Bill Brinksman have raised the with Warrington Borough Council to try and get the shelter and sign replaced as soon as possible.
Cllr Bretherton said: “A van crashed through the shelter at speed one afternoon the other week. The police were involved.
“The damaged bus stop has been removed and residents are concerned as to when its replacement will be fitted. Two residents have already complained that a bus failed to stop due to the driver not realising it was a bus stop.
“They were on board the bus wanting to alight and the driver explained he had not realised it was a bus stop.
“Both Cllr Brinksman and I have questioned when a replacement will be supplied.”

  1. What missing bus stop? On Manchester road at the junction with Holes lane there are two outbound stops – Dog and Partridge and The British Legion. There’s one inbound stop – Holes lane itself. Dropped off at one this morning and picked up at another.

  2. Such a nuisance these cyclists aren’t they? Smashing into bus stops causing their removal, inconvenience passengers and costing the council tax payer in its replacement.
