Councillor shocked by potholes

FAIRFIELD and Howley councillor Kevin Bennett has been shocked and disappointed at the state of roads in his ward.
The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition candidate in next month’s council elections received numerous complaints about potholes while out canvassing in the ward.
As a result he has asked the council’s highways department to address the problem – and let him know when they can do it.
He took photographs of potholes on the St Katherine’s Way/St Elphin’s estate to illustrate the problem – but claims there are many more similar holes all over roads on the estate.
He has also received complaints about fly tipping on land off the Cockhedge Roundabout, on the corner of Battersby Lane, close to the railway bridge.
He said: “This piece of land is an eyesore and a dumping ground for flytippers. I have complained about it previously. Something needs to be done because it does not give a good impression to people passing through Warrington.”
