Latchford Albion 23 Folly Lane 22

LATCHFORD made it two wins from two in the league when a 77th minute drop goal from Danny Brown secured a hard fought victory in a close encounter.
It was the visitors who started the stronger and were rewarded with a converted try, but parity was restored when wing Stu Simm crossed for his debut try following good work by Dave Levenston, Luke Hickman converting.
Debutant Dave Nunnerley gave Latchford the lead shortly after when he raced 30 yards to score by the posts. Again Hickman added the extras.
Albion increased their lead when Nunnerley crossed for a second time marking an impressive debut but Folly Lane hit back with a try out wide to leave the half time score at 16-10.
The second half mirrored the first with the visitors again starting strongly and within five minutes the scores were level following a converted try.
Again Latchford surged ahead when Simm scored a fine individual effort with Hickman landing the touchline conversion.
The game swung back in Folly Lane’s favour when Cameron Davies was harshly sin binned for Latchford and once more a converted try saw the scores tied at 22-22 with time running out.
A great effort from the Latchford pack allowed Brown the opportunity to be in drop goal range and he duly obliged to slot over from 25 yards and the hosts held on for an excellent victory.
On Saturday Latchford host Wigan St Patrick’s at the Victoria park arena kick off 2.30pm
