Top educationist to give lecture in Warrington

ONE of the country’s leading education professionals and best-selling author of The Magic-Weaving Business is to deliver a public lecture at the Warrington Campus of the University of Chester.
Sir John Jones, who was recognised for his achievements in education in the New Year’s Honours List in 2003, will give his free lecture about The Magic-Weaving Business – how teachers can make a real different to their pupils –  on Monday, April 18 at 6.30pm.
Sir John worked most of his professional life in challenging schools across the North West of England, his last post being the head teacher of a large secondary school on Merseyside.
His achievements and reputation for straight talking, leadership and creativity led him to be invited on to various organisations, panels and think tanks including the National College for School Leadership, the Department for Education’s Leadership Development Unit and the Teacher Development Agency’s National Remodelling Unit and visiting posts with both the Universities of Manchester and Liverpool.
Sir John also wrote the book Truancy and Exclusion: A Teacher’s Guide and co-authored Winning the H Factor: The Secret of Happy Schools.
Professor Annette McIntosh-Scott, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Provost of the Warrington Campus, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming Sir John Jones.
