Sandow named Super League player of the month

Warrington Wolves’ Chris Sandow has been awarded First Utility Super League Player of the Month award for February, run by the league’s title sponsors.

Starting his first full season in the First Utility Super League, the 27 year old Australian has put together a string of impressive performances to catapult his side towards the top of the league table.

Narrowly beating Castleford’s Luke Gale to the honour, Sandow’s three tries in three games helped his team maintain a 100% record to start the season.

Sandow has started March in the same rich vein of form that he finished February, clinching a dramatic win for his side with a long-range drop-goal against Salford.

Chris Sandow said: “It was a real honour to be nominated for this award. We’ve made a strong start to the season and this award could have gone to any of the guys in the squad.

“Being named First Utility Super League Player of the Month is a great feeling, now the team will look to push on throughout the next few months and make sure we maintain our good form and keep ourselves near the summit of the table!

“I’d like to thank the Wolves faithful who voted and the judging panel at First Utility and League Weekly, along with Keith who presented me with this great trophy.”

Speaking about the award, the Wolves fan Keith Naylor, added: “Chris Sandow has rewarded the Wire fans with some great performances to start our 2016 campaign and we’re sure he’ll play a big role in making sure we keep building on this momentum and continue picking up wins!”
