Bird of prey captured on camera

2

A SHARP-eyed Warrington-Worldwide reader spotted this bird of prey – we think it is a sparrow hawk but we are quite prepared to be corrected – and captured the moment with his camera
The bird was perched in trees alongside the Mersey at Howley – and as photographer Adam Bennett observes – is a pretty rare sight in the area.
He said: “Spotted this gorgeous bird of prey sitting in the trees next to the River Mersey. Quite a rare sight around this area”

  1. It’s a Buzzard, a relatively common bird in our skies these days. Once only seen on open moorland and wooded areas these birds have proliferated into urban areas to the extent that they can be seen soaring over residential areas

  2. Great photo, I’ve seen a few similar birds along the Mersey and other places around here too but I’m never too sure if they are Buzzards or Sparrow Hawks as they look too similar to me. I never manage to get a decent photo of any though to compare or look up on google.
