PEOPLE in Warrington are being sent a message: If a woman has inspired your life you now have the chance to give her the recognition she deserves.
In celebration of International Women’s Day on Tuesday, March 8, Warrington Borough Council is asking people to nominate an inspirational woman they know.
Whether it is their mum, sister, auntie, a friend or work colleague, the council wants to know why they’re so important.
Cllr Hitesh Patel (pictured), the council’s lead member for personnel and communications said: “This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the inspirational women in our town – and there are a lot of them out there!
“From our fabulous mums to wonderfully creative, intelligent, caring individuals who are making a real difference to everyday lives in our communities. I’m sure everyone knows someone they could nominate.”
Post their picture and a short reason as to why they inspire you using the hashtag #IWDwarrington.
On the day, the photos received will be shared using the national #IWD2016 hashtag to showcase the inspirational women within Warrington.
International Women’s Day is a global celebration which champions the social economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
