Bewsey and Dallam hub will be “landmark feature”

2

PLANS for the proposed new Bewsey and Dallam Hub come before Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee this week – with a recommendation for approval.
The proposed three-storey building in Longshaw Street will provide fitness, leisure and community welfare facilities including a learn and therapy pool, and smart library services.
There will also be a car park with 42 places, motor cycle and pedal cycle spaces and a bus space  and the whole site will benefit from landscaping.
A report to be considered by the committee points out that Bewsey and Dallam does not have a single location where all residents from both areas can meet up giving the impression that they are two housing areas separate by a gap.
The site is currently open – part hard surfaced and part vegetation.
Planners say the modern design of the building will result in a landmark feature in its right which will help to create a focal point and a sense of pride

  1. “Planners say the modern design of the building will result in a landmark feature in its right which will help to create a focal point and a sense of pride”

It looks to me to be another grossly ugly ‘Warehouseville’ box and more likely to be a blot on the landscape than a landmark feature.
Have local residents been asked for their opinion on the design of this building?

  2. Another uninspiring, boring and ugly white box with a bit of glass. Looks like anyone can be an architect these days as there’s clearly no skill or imagination needed.
On the plus side though buildings like this will take away the problem of any future hassle and objections when the time comes to demolish them.

I’m sure it will be better inside though and nice that Longshaw Street and Bewsey/Dallam area is getting a new hub though. The north of Warrington seems to be getting a lot of new hubs/sports places and parks lately.
