Westwood banned for one game

WARRINGTON Wolves’ forward Bennie Westwood has been banned for one match and fined £300 following an incident during the club’s match against Hull KR on Sunday.

An independent panel has ruled that in completing a tackle in around the 11th minute of the game Westwood exerted unnecessary pressure to the leg of Hull KR player Albert Kelly.

The panel decided the technique used by Westwood was dangerous and had the potential to cause injury to the opposing player.

The panel gave Credit to Westwood for his guilty plea and acknowledging the technique was potentially dangerous.
