Firefighters tackle barn fire

FIREFIGHTERS are tackling on ongoing barn blaze at Thelwall, Warrington, with police advising motorists to avoid the area.

Four fire engines are at the scene of a fire in the roof space of a disused farm property in Bell Lane.

Firefighters are using a hose reel and a main jet to put out the fire in the building. A butane gas cylinder has been removed as a precaution.

Police have been asked to attend to control traffic at the junction of Bell Lane and Stockport Road  and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Both roads were later closed to traffic.
