WARRINGTON Market’s traders are some of the best in the business according to a mystery shoppers survey.

One of the most important attributes for a local market is the friendly nature of its traders and the quality of traders at Warrington was found to be of an extremely high standard with a number scoring over 90% in the mystery shopper surveys.

The independent assessors reported that the traders are fantastic assets to the market who not only offer top quality products but also ensure that their customers enjoy a high standard of customer service and satisfaction.

Criteria for the scoring was comprehensive and covered a wide range of aspects that were considered necessary for a customer to enjoy a positive retail experience, these included cleanliness, friendliness, customer engagement, good inter-personal skills range, staff/customer interaction, signage, cleanliness, display of merchandise and overall experience.

Particular mention should go to the top three scoring traders, with Dreamshakes achieving a perfect maximum score. The second highest score went to Get Stuffed Take Away and Carvery and third place was taken by Baker J’s Takeaway.

All three traders scored top marks in particular for friendliness, customer engagement, good inter-personal skills, cleanliness, quality of merchandise and value for money. The mystery shopper also reported that they would be keen to make a return visit to the all three retailers.

Warrington Borough Council (WBC) was required to undertake the mystery shopper surveys as part of the improvements to Warrington’s famous market and employed an independent research company experienced in surveying markets, large retail franchises and retails chains across the U.K to undertake the mystery shopping process at Warrington’s famous market.

The surveys conducted on Warrington Market – which is an important part of the £107 million Bridge Street Regeneration Quarter project – are also connected to the selection process when choosing traders to go into the new/temporary market in early 2017. The reports will also provide a useful tool for all traders to get customer feedback enabling them to make adjustments and improve.

Speaking about the impressive results Councillor Mike Hannon, Deputy Leader of Warrington Borough Council said: “We are delighted with the high standard of comments received for the majority of market traders from the mystery shoppers – we knew that our market traders were good, but it is nice to have confirmation in this manner. I couldn’t be more proud.”

Construction of the temporary market is scheduled to start in January 2016 with completion due in 2017.
