No decision yet on new home for Frodsham Town Council

FRODSHAM Town Council has still not made a decision on  whether or not to move home from Castle Park House – “the jewel in Frodsham’s crown” according to one councillor.
A move to Frodsham Community Centre is one possibility – but the council is also looking for other suitable premises in the town.
Members heard at their monthly meeting last night that it was costing the council £18,000-a-year at Castle Park House while it was likely the Community Centre would cost about £13,000-a-year all-in.
But costs were likely to rise at Castle Park by £20,000 in a couple of years’ time.
Cllr Mike Pusey told the council the Community Association could face financial difficulties in the near future.
The Community Centre was owned by the council and in the event of the Community Association folding up would revert to the council.  But if the council moved into the building it could secure the association’s future.
For about £13,000-a-year all-in the council could have rooms big enough for offices and for meetings. There were other rooms that would cost around £11,000-a-year.
Cllr Pusey  said the accommodation would be better than at Castle Park House.
Chairman Cllr Mark Warren said the council had been looking around for a new home for some time. The Youth Association had been considered and at one time the council had considered buying its own permanent offices.  They had ended up at Castle Park House,  but at that time they had not been aware that the Community Association could be in difficulties.
Cllr Mallie Poulton said he believed Castle Park House was the council’s natural home. It was the jewel in Frodsham’s crown.  He believed it would be possible for the council to receive an income from sub-letting to offset the cost.
“We need to find out how we can make it pay,” he said.
The council deferred further discussion, involving costs and financial matters, to the private section of the meeting.
