Records broken as cricket season ends?

GRAPPENHALL’S final game of the season in the Vivio Cheshire County League – and final game in the premier league for at least another summer – ended in a draw but must surely have broken a few records.
Unfortunately, the record breakers were their opponents, Chester Boughton Hall, who amassed an incredible total of 400-4 in 55 overs.
It was a score that ended all hope of a meaningful competition and no-one could blame Grappenhall if they decided there was nothing left for them to do other than shut up shop and play for a draw.
They ended on 198-8, overseas player Warwick Abrahim top scoring with 46 and opener Adam Roylance scoring 41.
Earlier, Sam Guest had toiled manfully for 22 overs to take 2-136.  The home side blasted 20 sixes during their marathon innings which appeared to be more of a record breaking attempt than a bid for victory.
Grappers were relegated before the match and will play next season in the first division – along with near neighbours Warrington who were crowned champions of division two and will be promoted.
They won their final match against Northwich who were bowled out for 164, Nathan Green taking 7-43.  Will Fleetwood, 38 not out, top scored as Warrington replied with 165-8.
Warrington were left top-of-the-table, equal on points with second-placed Bollington who had won one less game. They will also be promoted to the first division.
In the TACS Partnership Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park were crowned champions of division two, despite losing for the third successive week.
They were bowled out for 121 by Winnington Park, who went on to win with 122-8.
In the Cheshire Alliance, Stretton could only manage a draw after amassing 349-8. Pott Shrigley hung on  with 161-5 to deny them victory.
But the result was enough to secure the division one championship and promotion to the Cheshire League. Appleton also won promotion after their 78-run victory over Trafford Metrovics took them into the runners-up spot.
Glazebury’s last game at Tranmere Victoria  had a nail-biting finish.  Batting first, Glazebury hit 169-8, opener Wayne Hargreaves top scoring with 63 not out and Ian Black hitting 30.
Tranmere inched their way towards their target but their last wicket fell with the scores level – Glazebury6’s second tie of the season!
Away from 1st XI cricket, Warrington 4th earned a draw against Upton after the visitors had hit 202-7, John Burgess taking 4-50. Warrington replied with 157-7, veteran Paul Agar hitting 50 not out and Les Connolly 25.
Glazebury 2nd coasted to a six wicket victory after dismissing Tranmere Victoria for 51, David Nicholson taking 5-37 and Sean Caine 3-14. Glazebury posted 53-4, Paul Charlton hitting 33 not out.
Stretton 2nd were held to a draw after hitting 194-9, Farhad Qayum 74, Ben Southworth 47.
Rylands 2nd ended their season with a 17-run victory over Port Sunlight, who were bowled out for 174, Tim T aylor 3-31, Matt Brady 3-45 and Steve Howarth 3-17. Earlier Rylands had score 191-8, Geoff Shaw hitting 34 and Stephen Brady 30.
Lymm Oughtrington Park 2nd bowled Romily out for 131 and coasted to a four wicket win with Dave Evans hitting 38, Simon Littler 24 not out and Arvind Pillai 24.
