NORTH Cheshire Clarion Go-Ride Club has been awarded British Cycling’s Go-Ride Clubmark status.

The club, formed in 2009 and boasting a membership of 250 adults and juniors, was presented with the accreditation at the recent Warrington Festival launch.

Clubs are required to submit a portfolio of evidence to show that they meet the relevant criteria, including suitably qualified volunteers, regular coaching sessions and club development plans.

Throughout the application process, North Cheshire Clarion demonstrated an environment that ensures member welfare and promotes cycling as a lifelong sport.

The club was honoured to be officially presented with its Clubmark certification at Warrington’s Cycle Festival by Paralympic athlete Adrian Derbyshire, British Cycling Go-Ride coach and former European and World BMX Champion Dylan Clayton and LiveWire MD Jan Souness.

Coaches hold sessions at a university campus that offer young riders an ideal traffic free cycling venue, an opportunity to improve bike handling skills and a pathway into cycle sport.

Sessions for youth riders at The University of Chester’s Warrington Campus run every Saturday at 10am and new riders are more than welcome to come along and have a go.

For adult riders the club runs a series of introductory graded rides each weekend to introduce new riders to the Club, as well as longer club rides for experienced riders.
